For hundreds of years, one item of clothing has been representing the traditional loden costume above all others:

>club schladminger< is dedicated to the maintenance of the tradition of this cultural asset. every proud owner of a >schladminger< is acccepted. 
by now the club has some 2.000 members, including well-known personalities from politics, business, the arts and sport.

the legend of styrian loden was already established by the early 19th century:
the habsburg arch duke johann of austria was impressed by the qualities of the loden cloth that he choose loden as his everday wear, making it acceptable even in royal circles.
